Jason Mraz Extends Broadway Stint Alongside Sara Bareilles in 'Waitress'

Jazon Mraz's run on Broadway alongside Sara Bareilles will last a little longer. Mraz has extended his run as Dr. Pomatter through February 11, meaning he will spend nearly a full month sharing the Broadway stage with Bareilles.

The pair will star will start their run together when Bareilles joins the cast as the show's leading lady (the character of Jenna Hunterson) next week (January 16).

That will last until Mraz steps out of the role as the show's leading man (the character of Dr. Pomatter) on February 11. Mraz, who joined the show's cast in November, was only slated to stay in the role through January 28.

Sara wrote the lyrics and score for the Tony-nominated musical, which is based on a 2007 movie of the same title. The musical made its Broadway debut at the Brooks Atkinson Theater in April 2016. The show's book was written by Jessie Nelson.


It is not Sara's first time on stage in Waitress. She first appeared as Jenna from March 2017 through June 2017. Sara's "second shift" in Waitress will run through February 25.
