At this year’s 60th Annual GRAMMY Awards, breakout act Portugal. The Man won its first-ever GRAMMY for the massive 2017 hit “Feel It Still,” beating out huge names like The Chainsmokers and Coldplay (“Something Just Like This”), Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee ft. Justin Bieber (“Despacito”), Imagine Dragons (“Thunder”), and Zedd and Alessia Cara (“Stay”).

If you’re into the band’s “I liked Portugal. The Man before they sold out” merch, then you’re already well aware of the fact that the band’s been in the game for over a decade, so last night’s GRAMMY win was a long time coming.

Below, frontman John Gourley and bassist Zach Carothers elaborate on their slow and steady climb to success and how they continue to “keep it real,” often trading in five-star meals for a can of Pringles on friends’ couches. Also of note: Zach never wore a tuxedo before. So the 60th Annual GRAMMY Awards was a night of firsts for the band in many ways.

Speaking of keeping it real, hear the band talk about the slow climb as it pertains to their tour rider in our exclusive interview below!

So, based on the band’s creative process explained in the first video above, it sounds like we can expect some new PTM music relatively soon, yeah? Into it.

Until then, congrats on the big win, guys!
