Throwback to 1992: Nirvana on SNL

On January 11, 1992, Nirvana was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live. For their performance, the band played both “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and “Territorial Pissings” off 1991’s Nevermind.

Of course, the performance itself was amazing. Things got even more interesting after the performance, though, starting with the band’s destruction of their own instruments. Then, during the closing credits, there were a few kisses unexpectedly exchanged between the band members. Pretty wild stuff! You can check it all out below.

Another piece in this particular video that stands out is a handshake between Chris Farley and Kurt Cobain toward the end of the credits. Such a cool piece of ‘90s history to see these two on the same stage.
